Subsidies for companies that invest in the manufacture of COVID-19 related healthcare products

The  Ministry of Industry is dedicating 11 million euros to subsidies for companies who invest in the manufacture of healthcare products related with COVID-19.

It is to support the production of medical devices and equipment and healthcare, personal protection material and products such as active ingredients, chemical products, medicines and other items that are considered emergency supplies. The period for submitting requests and the corresponding documents ends on 30 July 2020.

The Official State Bulletin has published an Order by the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Tourism which establishes the terms and conditions for the provision of subsidies amounting to 11 million euros for entities who invest in the manufacture of medical devices, personal protection material and products that the Government considers to be emergency supplies related with COVID-19 in the financial year 2020.

This programme of subsidies will support the production of medical devices and healthcare equipment, personal protection material and products (active ingredients, chemical products, medicines etc.) that are considered emergency supplies. As stated in the BOE, these products include: Surgical masks, type II and IIR; individual protection masks FFP2 and FFP3; PCR diagnosis kits for COVID-19 and their consumables; rapid diagnostic (antigen detectors); swabs; protective visors; nitrile gloves, with and without powder disposable and impermeable gowns; hydroalcoholic solutions (biocides and cosmetic) and their raw materials; invasive mechanical ventilators (VMI); fungible or consumable materials for VMI; medical alcohol and chlorhexidine.

Subsidies of up to 500,000 euros are available for projects that involve new installations for manufacturing health products or which expand the production of existing facilities or convert existing production lines for other purposes to the manufacture of these healthcare products.

Investments and expenditure made between February 1 2020 to December 31 2020 shall be eligible for financing. The period for submitting requests and the corresponding documents ends on 30 July 2020.
